This safety device is one half of a light curtain setup, and it works by detecting and holding the light beam sent from the transmitter. It triggers a stop or an alarm once the light beam is interrupted by an object, helping to promote workplace safety. The receiver's aluminium body material is robust and resistant to corrosion, so it will last a long time in harsh environments. It's commonly found on material handling equipment, as well as in restricted areas in chemical production plants.
Made from high-speed steel, which gives the blanks a high hardness rating and resistance to abrasion, the set is housed in an easy-to-carry metal indexing box. For a high level of precision and accuracy, the 51 drill hole gauges increase in diameter by 0.1 mm increments and range in size from a diameter of 1 mm to 6 mm. The slots in the box for each drill blank are labelled for size, and every piece above 3 mm in diameter is also marked with its size for additional ease of identification.
